Co-Chairs 2003 DCBIA Awards Dinner

Nearly 700 members of the District of Columbia Building Industry Association participated in the Building Industry Awards Dinner on May 8, 2003, at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Mayor Anthony Williams was the honored guest and was presented with the Association's Building Industry Achievement Award for his leadership in the revitalization of Washington, DC. The City is currently experiencing $25 billion in new building, including office, housing and retail development.

The Development and Construction Team of the new Washington Convention Center was also presented with DCBIA's 2003 Building Industry Achievement Award for completion of the $850 million flagship development – the fourth largest convention center in the United States. Already, many large conventions have contracted to come to Washington through 2013.

One of the highlights of the evening was the presentation of the Mayor's Proclamation to Jane Raybould, executive assistant for DCBIA, who will leave the Association at the end of July after 16 years of service. She will to return to Lincoln, Nebraska, her home town, and take up an executive position in her family's extensive grocery store business. The Mayor proclaimed May 8, 2003 Jane Raybould Day in the District of Columbia. Jane has been a true asset to the Association and will be missed by many DCBIA friends.
